Halloween
I thought I would link up with Kelly's Korner Show us Your Life Halloween.
For Sydney's first Halloween she was a flower which I cannot find a picture of. We've put all our pics on an external hard drive and I cannot retrieve them this morning. Which makes me sad. I know its on there, just can't find it.
For her second halloween she was a skunk. The cutest skunk ever!!
For her 3rd Halloween she decided to be SUPERGIRL. So sweet!!
Her 4th Halloween she was supposed to be Little Red Riding Hood. She had the cutest little costume and a basket full of "goodies" for Grandma. (Fake grapes, plastic bread and cake) However, she was very sick with the flu so we never even tried the costume on.
5th Halloween she was into pirates so there was no other choice.
Last year she chose to be a witch. The costume had lights in it but I don't think I took a picture of it lit. Silly me.
She had fallen out of the car and still had that injury which she thought made her look more "witch like" I don't think you can see it in this particular picture though.
This year she went back and forth about what to be. At first she wanted to be a can of Diet Coke. I have no idea why. So I started making that she switched and decided to be a mermaid. I had no idea how to make that and wasn't sure I was crafty enough so we found one online. When we tried it on her,DISASTER. Too long and too tight. She has never had a problem with things being too tight because she is such a shrimp :) So I ordered a different one.
Then her aunt gave her a pair of Indian moccasins so she changed her mind once again and decided to be an Indian. I ordered the costume and wig online. I made the bracelet and necklace. And sewed a trick or treat bag that was more fitting to an Indian. Last night was trick or treat night at school, it was cold (thank you Hurricane Sandy). So we added leggings and a long sleeve shirt. Everyone thought she was Pocahontas. She doesn't do Disney movies or Princesses so she had no earthly idea what people were talking about when they asked her if she was Pocahontas. She would say "I am just a plain Native American, thank you."

Sick of being sick.
I have been sick since mid September. Coughing, sneezing etc. I went through two rounds of antibiotics and predinisone to try to get rid of it. I felt better for a week or so, then it returned. With a vengeance. I accepted it as my new normal and went on with life.
Monday morning I went to see my doctor for a physical with blood work. I had to fast beforehand which makes me feel so bad. But while I'm waiting in the exam room coughing my lungs out Doc flings the door open and asks if I am the one coughing. Ummm yeah. I'm the only one in here to my knowledge anyway. So he says "You obviously have whooping cough, no tests today."
Whooping cough? For goodness sake. I didn't even know you could still get that. Leave it to me. So after a blood test to confirm I leave with 5 prescriptions. CVS loves me!
So Thursday I'm trying to sleep in preparation for midnights (while Scotty who is also sick, takes a sick Sydney to the Dr) my phone rings. I didn't want to talk so I let voicemail have it. It immediately rang again. So I answer. It's my Dr himself. His first words? Autumn we have a problem. Not words you dream of hearing your Dr say.
Apparently your hemoglobin levels are supposed to be 12 or better. He said 11 is considered low. Mine are at 6.5. I am anemic a lot anemic. And have no idea where /how I'm losing blood. I look anemia up online which I should never have done. The first reason I see in big bold letters? The "c " word of course. Scary. He's doing a profile on my blood to see what's going on. I see him the first of the week. My fingers and toes are crossed.
Syd has a viral infection and is miserable. She has missed two days of school. And two tests. She also missed grandparents day at school just like last year. She was so upset. Which breaks my heart. I wish I could be sick for her.
Scotty has a sinus infection. He voluntarily went to the Dr. The second time he's done that since I've known him. Ol ' iron immune system. Ha. I hope we all get better soon.
On a lighter note Sydneys halloween costume came today. Her third. First was too small so we ordered another and then she changed her mind. She's stuck with this one. Just waiting for her shoes.
Well she wants to nap and I'm not arguing.

Seriously!!!
Ok, so this time I'm serious. I WILL blog more. I have to, I need too. I feel better when I do, even though nobody reads it. It lets me get my thoughts out.
Life has just been so busy lately. I feel like I'm on that boat on the original. "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory " where they are flying down the chocolate river with the off the wall music and the flashes of random things everywhere. Yep, I apparently at some point, purchased first class tickets up on Ozzys train. I don't remembber doing such a thing but then again I don't remember much of anything.
First grade is so much different than it was when I attended just a few years ago....eerrr well I guess 1983 was a few years ago. Right??? In first grade I learned to read (Sydney learned that last year) and I glued stuff onto construction paper. Yeah, not anymore. She had a test last week on metamorphosis. I wasn't even sure on how to spell the word, and couldn't for the life of me think of what it was. But, my girl showed me :) Now next week she has a math test and starting this week a "word ways " test each week. I'm gonna have to quit my job just to keep Sydney in school. Its tough to fit all that in after school and before bed time each day. Then throw a dance class, 12 hour swing shifts, a sick Papa and playtime in there and you don't get any breaks.
And now I must brag a little on her. They had midterms last week and she rocked! They also gave them a PALS test to measure how they are as far as reading and accuracy. To pass first graders have to make at least a 39. The highest score is a 90. Syd??? She got an 83!!! She is reading on a third grade level with 95% accuracy and averages 57 words perminute. Blew. My. Mind. My girl appears to excel and exceed expectations and she adores school. I hope it stays that way.
I want her to go to school and become something so that she can choose whether or not she works holidays, weekends and swing shifts. I don't want her to be stuck in a job that she loved at one time and will eventually just tolerate
Anyway more to come I promise!! Right now I have to try to sleep I'm dayshift for one more day :(
