Couldn't keep that promise to blog more this year. I don't even know why either. I would say, "Self get in there and write a blog post." But I just didn't listen. This year is flying by I tell ya.
On June 1st my baby will be done with her first year of school. I just can't understand it. Seems like yesterday was the first day. I was crying then and I'm crying now. I don't have a baby anymore. I know, I know I should be happy that she is growing and is so smart (more on that later). But I feel so disconnected from her nowadays. I also know that that sounds dumb. BUT I don't care. She is my only child. The only one I"m ever likely to have. And I miss her.
And she is. Smart I mean. I can't get over it. She is reading. And I don't mean little See Jane go books either. She is reading Chapter books. She knows about fractions she is adding and subtracting. When I was in kindergarten we cut construction paper and then glued it to other peices of construction paper.
The teacher is amazed by her. She told us that Syd is writing and reading on a second grade level already. How cool is that? She is teaching me things.
She already knows that she wants to be a teacher. She makes Scotty,Mom, Dad and me do journal work and math worksheets. She keep all of us on our toes.
She is taking ballet/tap/jazz and now playing tball. She is good at both. It is taking her (and all her teammates) a minute to figure out the rules of tball. And let me tell you they are so stinking cute to watch. I could watch her play or dance all day.
She is so tender hearted it makes me sad. I was hoping she wouldn't take that after me. If she spills something or breaks something she gets so upset. When she got "out" in a game the other day she didn't understand and got a little upset. It just breaks my heart.
When she started pre school I said that I wished I could just take her away. Far away so that I'd never have to be away from her. And i still wish that. She is going through a stage right now where she doesn't want me to leave for work. She stands in the door with her arms stretched, crying begging me to stay with her. Any ideas on how hard that is???
I really wouldn't do that to her.She adores school. I wouldn't take that away from her. I don't think she understands that Friday is the last day. And that Mrs. Bentley won't be her teacher next year. Gosh she is growing to fast. Someone stop her.
